It would have been good.

I absolutely loved the two NZ-India Tests. A super game (with nobody watching) in Auckland and a range of milestones at Wellington. However, two real highlights have been: watching a session of Test cricket from NZ in the couple of hours as I unwind for bed; and on my drive to work, listening to the ABC Grandstand coverage from SA - Maxwell, Manthorpe, de Kock, Kimber, Kirsten. Maybe it's novelty, but it did feel as though these commentary teams had the right blend of seriousness, an eye for the unusual, without pretending to be each others' or our best friends.

ChrisAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-30531601.post-73041626221776328982014-03-04T22:41:42.654+00:002014-03-04T22:41:42.654+00:00Thanks, Nick. One of my favourite quotes about cricket-writing was John Woodcock saying to Alan Gibson "I write about the cricket, you write about a day at the cricket." They are different things and it's the pleasures of the latter that are lost on the TV.Backwatersmannoreply@blogger.com
