Six Things

Six things which were apparent at Lord's today:

1. Ian Bell needs to work on his running.

2. Fidel Edwards is very quick, and, unusually for a modern West Indies cricketer, has the right attitude.

3. Dwayne Bravo is a quality all-rounder, and, unusually for a modern West Indies cricketer, has the right attitude.

4. Owais Shah, whisper it, is starting to look at home in international cricket.

5. And so is Stuart Broad.

6. Allan Donald is having a positive effect on England's bowlers.

I see that papers are reporting that contract negotiations with Alan Donald are "Ongoing"...hopefully they'll be locking him into a contract soon. It's obvious that the loss of Troy Cooley had a massive effect on our bowlers (and clearly the reign of Kevin Shine as bowling coach has been a disaster in terms of "on the field" results), and equally obvious that the young bowlers are responding well to Donald

Yes, it looks as though Donald's had an immediate impact. It seems that he wants to go on doing the job so hopefully it should be fairly easy to get him tied to a long contract, just as long as the ECB is prepared to put its hand in its pocket.
